Celebrity Chefs cook up a storm for The Good Digestion Show

Celebrity chefs Antony Worrall Thompson and Lesley Waters will be giving live demonstrations at The Good Digestion Show on 24th and 25th June 2011 at EXEC on the East of England showground, Peterborough. This brand new consumer event, is the premier event for anyone interested in food intolerance, healthy eating, lifestyle and good digestion and aims to raise the profile of illnesses such as Ulcerative Colitis and Crohns disease, topics otherwise considered taboo.

Lesley Waters will be whipping up mouth watering dishes on Friday 24th and Antony Worrall Thompson will be creating culinary delights on Saturday 25th June. The show is being launched to showcase how to live with food intolerances, special diets such as gluten free and dairy free, or simply for those wishing to choose a healthier way of eating.

Antony Worrall Thompson, whose cooking career has spanned 30 years, is increasingly involved in food and health issues – diabetes, the GI diet, diet and heart disease. Antony said “food intolerances are becoming increasingly more common and people are becoming more conscious of what they are eating and where it has come from. The fact that the Good Digestion Show is catering for anyone who has any form of intolerance or simply chooses to eat a healthy diet is fantastic. It is a unique show that will appeal to everyone.”

Lesley Waters has written nearly 20 cookery books and runs her own immensely popular cookery school in Dorset. She said “I’m really looking forward to cooking at the show, it’s a great opportunity to showcase some brilliant products and help people who suffer from digestive problems or food intolerances to create their own recipes. So many people feel restricted by such intolerances, but this is the ideal chance to show them that they can have a really exciting diet whilst avoiding certain ingredients.”

The two chefs will be using a menu that includes specific food products provided by exhibitors to cook up deliciously tasty recipes to inspire those living with food intolerances. The Good Digestion Show has been created to offer help, advice, support and products, not only for those with food intolerances but for other digestive conditions such as Ulcerative Colitis, Crohns disease, with the dedicated IBD Expo event within the main hall, as well as diverticular disease, bowel cancer, coeliac disease and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

The show also accommodates those who have been through surgery and live with a temporary or permanent stoma, whether they have a colostomy, urostomy or ileostomy. Stoma Central, within The Good Digestion Show, is the specialist event that will showcase the different stoma products and accessories available, as well as specialised clothing, swimwear and lingerie.

A fashion catwalk, seminar theatre and the demonstration kitchen are just a few of the attractions that will be at the two day event next year. National companies, experts and opinion leaders will be on hand to discuss personal issues with visitors and recommend products.

The show has been set up by Businesswoman Caroline Bramwell, who suffered debilitating Ulcerative Colitis for 5 years and went through major ‘world first’ single-site keyhole surgery last March. She now lives with a permanent stoma and has to wear an ileostomy bag, but dismisses this as a slight inconvenience as she now enjoys a quality of life she’s not had in years. She decided to use her first hand experience to help those who suffer similar conditions.

Caroline Said: “Many people carry on ‘putting up’ with things because they don’t know what is available to them. But it’s not necessary; I want people to discover that there are many different things that can help and improve their quality of life.

“We are aiming to bring together patients, the general public and the professionals. That way all the information people need will be under one roof and plenty of experts on hand to answer questions.”

The flood gates have now opened for exhibitors to sign up. For more details or to book your space please contact Suzanne Bongartz on 01271 375 393 or email her Suzanne@thegooddigestionshow.co.uk
